This website is operated by Essentia Psychological Services Co., Rm 2001 Woho Business Centre, 119 Jervois Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong (BR No. 56583587-000-08-19-6). Dr. Julia A. Andre is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. If you have any questions about how your data is handled, please contact dr.andre@essentiapsychology.com.

What data we collect

We collect personal data only when you actively provide it, or when it is generated automatically through your use of this site.

  • Name, email, and phone number: when you fill in the enquiry or contact forms on this site.
  • Email address: when you sign up to download the free eBook resource offered on the home page.
  • Session and clinical information: if you become a client, any information you share with Dr. Andre in the course of therapy is governed by professional confidentiality obligations, described in our FAQ, and not by this general website policy.
  • Analytics data: we use analytics tools that automatically collect aggregated, anonymised data about how visitors use this site, such as pages visited and time on site. This data does not identify you personally.
  • Communications: if you contact us directly by phone or email, we retain that correspondence.

We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health information) through this website itself. Any clinical information you share in a therapeutic context is governed by separate confidentiality obligations, as described in our FAQ.

How we use your data

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange sessions or consultations.
  • To send the free eBook and any related content you have opted into.
  • To understand how visitors use this site so we can improve it.
  • To comply with our legal and professional obligations.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Legal basis for processing

For visitors in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent: for the free eBook opt-in and any related email communications. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
  • Legitimate interests: for analytics that help us understand site performance, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Contract: where processing is necessary to arrange or deliver a session or consultation you have booked.

For visitors in Hong Kong, we comply with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (PDPO). You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data held by us.

Third-party services

This site uses a small number of third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit): email delivery platform used to send the free eBook.
  • Easy Registration Forms: the plugin that processes submissions from our contact and enquiry forms.
  • Google Fonts: typeface delivery; Google may receive your IP address when fonts load.
  • Google Analytics: where active, may set cookies or collect anonymised usage data. See our Cookie Policy for details.

International data transfers

We are based in Hong Kong, and some of the third-party services we use (including Kit) are based or host data in other countries, including the United States. This means your personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, a country outside your own, which may have data protection laws that differ from those where you live. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data continues to be handled in a manner consistent with this policy.

Children’s data

This website is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Cookies

This site uses a limited set of essential and analytics cookies. Essential cookies do not require consent; analytics cookies are only set with your consent, given or declined via the banner shown on your first visit. For full details on the cookies we use, their purpose, and how to manage them, see our Cookie Policy.

Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. If you unsubscribe from our mailing list, your data is removed from active lists within 30 days. Correspondence is retained for up to three years unless a longer period is required by law.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to correct inaccurate data.
  • The right to erasure of your data, subject to legal obligations.
  • The right to restrict or object to certain types of processing.
  • The right to data portability where processing is based on consent or contract.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact dr.andre@essentiapsychology.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK and are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. However, no transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of this site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
